The capstone project from my undergraduate degree and NSCAD University, this project focuses on spaces of actual murder, and suicides juxtaposed with places that hint at the possibility of a space equally disturbed but for reasons unknown or unaticipated. As the old adage goes, “The dead don’t speak”, but do they listen? The full suite of 20 images engages the  viewer on an emotional level counter to other contemporary works that portray similar places as areas voided of any meaning. The work is successful if the viewer is left to ponder what is real, and what is perception inside the phenomenological space in these cold, stark that these places.
